Statement by the International Relations Section of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece

Hands off the communists of Russia!

In a statement, the IRS of the CC of the KKE denounces the police brutality exercised against members of the Communist Party of Russia (internationalists). This party emerged following a split within the RCWP, and in its declaration on the anniversary of the October Revolution underlines, among other things, that “the Russian leadership has dragged the country into blood-drenched adventurism, squandering trillions of roubles that should have been allocated to meet the needs of the people. While enriching a small handful of people, the poor men of the Russian countryside are hired and die for the interests of the oligarchic bourgeoisie.”

The statement by the IRS of the CC of the KKE is as follows:

“The KKE condemns the arrest of ten members of the Communist Party of Russia (Internationalists) on 7 November, the day of the Great October Socialist Revolution, by the police authorities of the city of Novosibirsk, when they attempted to lay flowers at the monument dedicated to the fallen communists of the Revolution. Previously, the authorities had prohibited the party from holding a rally invoking various pretexts.

We express our solidarity with the persecuted communists of Russia and demand the immediate cessation of police arbitrariness and persecution against them.
