"The Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal is a de facto fragile agreement as none of the factors that led to this conflict have disappeared: the aggression of the terrorist state of Israel against the Palestinian people on the one hand and the antagonisms, particularly in the Middle East region, which are escalating, on the other. Furthermore, this ceasefire deal does not erase any of the crimes committed by Israel in the context of a real extermination of the Palestinian people.

Those who are quick to associate the ceasefire with the change in the US administration, creating expectations for positive developments in favour of the peoples with a "peaceful" reshaping of the world, will soon be disproved.

Whatever the expediencies that imposed a false peace "with a gun to the Palestinians' heads", the ceasefire deal was also influenced by the heroic resistance of the Palestinian people, the struggle against the war inside Israel itself, as well as the internationalist solidarity of the peoples of the whole world. This solidarity must now be intensified even more in order to put an end to the Israeli occupation and to recognise the right of the Palestinian people to have their own homeland.

The KKE calls on the Greek people to intensify the struggle against the policy of the ND government, which, together with the other political forces of Euro-Atlanticism, reproduces the pretext of "Israel's right of self-defence" and promotes the upgrading of our country's economic, political and military relations with a terrorist state. The Greek parliament's decision to recognise an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital must be applied immediately."
